XTEK Limited’s HighCom Armour Solutions has ventured into a partnership with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) to help deliver advanced Level III Rifle Combat Helmets to the Indian Defence market.
Manufactured using XTEK’s XTclave technology, the advanced ballistic helmets are capable of stopping AK-47 and other high-powered assault rifle bullets, XTEK said in an ASX announcement.
The Indian Ministry of Defence is slated to launch a major capability enhancement program of soldier ballistic head protection for specialist military units commencing in fiscal year 2024, which will see thousands of new advanced helmets being required each year.
HighCom’s partnership with TASL comes on the heels of a visit by HighCom delegation, led by XTEK Group’s CEO Scott Basham, in February to meet with TASL leadership and see their advanced manufacturing facilities in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
The collaboration also comes after XTEK received grant funding from the Australian Department of Defence in January, which will be used to double the production output of XTEK’s XTclave RCH helmet.
“We are very pleased to announce the signing of this MoU with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd, a major division of the world leading and highly respected Tata Group, to collaborate on the supply of our unique ‘rifle rated’ Level III Rifle Combat Helmets for the Indian Defence market,” said Basham.
“Working with the team at TASL to penetrate the huge Indian Defence market makes tremendous sense for us, and I expect that together, we will be able to fully meet the Indian military’s future requirements for new advanced ballistic head protection with our outstanding XTclave-made Rifle Combat Helmets,” the CEO added.
The collaboration to supply the Indian military is expected to see a deepening relationship between the parties involved and highlight the potential of local XTclave production capability being developed in India with TASL.
