Western Australia’s top welders honoured at 2024 Excellence Awards

The 2024 Western Australia Welding Excellence Awards, hosted by Weld Australia at Burswood on Swan in Perth, honoured the exceptional talents shaping the state’s welding industry.

Weld Australia CEO Geoff Crittenden praised the winners, stating, “The 2024 Welding Excellence Awards showcase the exceptional talent of welders and fabricators across Western Australia.”

He added, “We are excited to honour both individuals and businesses who are driving advancements in welding through their commitment to quality, safety, and innovation.”

Key winners included:

  • RCR Mining Technologies: Company of the Year – Fabrication and Health and Safety in Welding Award.
  • Griffin Marine Services: Project of the Year for the Royal Australian Navy Training Submarine Project.
  • Gentronics: Company of the Year – Supplier.
  • South Metropolitan TAFE: Training and Education – Organisation Award.

Individual honours were awarded to:

  • Clarisse Orchard (Callidus Welding Solutions): Trades Person of the Year.
  • Justin Whitby (Griffin Marine Services): Young Indigenous Trades Person of the Year.
  • Jacob Piesse (ASC): Young Trades Person of the Year.
  • Adam Fiannaca (South Metropolitan TAFE): Training and Education – Individual Teacher Award.

WPF received the special CEO’s Award for its outstanding contributions to the Australian welding industry.

Specialising in engineering services across energy, construction, and manufacturing, WPF has earned a reputation for excellence and safety since its establishment in 1988.

The 2024 Welding Excellence Awards highlighted not just individual and corporate achievements, but also the industry’s commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability.

As Geoff Crittenden remarked, “The winners this year embody the pursuit of cutting-edge, sustainable solutions that enhance project outcomes while reducing risks, alongside initiatives that broaden and deepen the skilled workforce within the welding sector.”
