Weld Australia has launched two free online welder safety training courses designed to serve welders, welding engineers and supervisors, to enhance safety practices across the welding industry.

Geoff Crittenden, CEO of Weld Australia, emphasised the importance of prioritising safety in welding, stating, “Welding is a potentially dangerous process, with many hazards and risks to people’s health. These risks are compounded by the fact that welding is undertaken across a wide range of locations and situations.”

The newly launched courses cover a comprehensive range of subjects related to welding processes. They delve into identifying hazards and managing them effectively in various workplace scenarios.

Particular focus is placed on the hierarchy of controls, underscoring engineering controls and the proper utilisation of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Crittenden highlighted the practical applications of these courses within the industry, stating, “The courses can be used by companies to enhance their staff induction program or as part of ongoing training to keep employees up-to-date with the latest safety techniques.”

For individual welders, the courses offer essential knowledge on protecting oneself from common hazards such as burns and harmful fumes.

Crittenden pointed out, “By educating yourself, you can contribute to a culture of safety within the welding community.”

Moreover, hobbyist welders are encouraged to take advantage of these free courses to ensure safety while pursuing their passion at home.

Crittenden added, “Safety education is just as important for hobbyist welders. Our free courses can provide you with the knowledge to safely enjoy welding at home, protecting yourself, your family, and your property.”

Interested individuals can register via Weld Australia’s online training platform.

To learn more about the courses and their significance, Weld Australia invites interested parties to join the official launch event on Tuesday, 9 April, from 11 am to 12 noon (AEST) via Zoom.

Registration for the event is available online.
