Expanding its footprint into the Eastern Goldfields, the Western Australia Electric Vehicle (EV) Network has introduced a live electric vehicle fast charger in Coolgardie.
Situated at 90 Bayley Street, adjacent to the Coolgardie Shire Office, the new EV charging site is equipped with a 150-kilowatt (kW) fast charger, enabling EV drivers to recharge their vehicles in just 20 minutes, along with a 22kW backup charger.
Synergy, a key player in the energy sector, orchestrated the installation of the fast charger to ensure a swift and seamless user experience, the company said in a media release.
David Fyfe, CEO of Synergy, highlighted that the new addition allows EV drivers to recharge along the WA EV Network in Merredin, Southern Cross, and Coolgardie.
Fyfe emphasised the positive impact of the expanding network, stating, “With 19 WA EV Network charging stations now live across the State, Synergy and Horizon Power are reducing range anxiety for EV drivers.”
He added, “This is helping to drive the uptake of electric vehicles and supports WA’s road to net zero emissions by 2050.”
The ongoing development of the WA EV Network aims for completion early next year, featuring a total of 49 EV charging locations strategically spaced less than 200km apart.
Once realised, Synergy reported that it would stand as the longest EV network in Australia and one of the largest globally.
The $23 million initiative is aligned with the State Government’s Electric Vehicle Strategy and plays a crucial role in steering Western Australia toward achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
