The Victorian Caravan Industry Jobs, Careers and Training Strategy was launched on Wednesday in Victoria – the country’s home of caravan manufacturing where 90% of Australia’s recreational vehicles are manufactured.
The new blueprint was developed by the Caravan Industry Association of Victoria with the aim of boosting career pathways and training for the caravan industry workforce but also for people who might want to get a job in the caravan manufacturing sector.
Victoria’s caravan manufacturing industry injected over $2 billion to Victoria’s economy just last year.
“We’re the home of caravan manufacturing in Australia – the industry is worth more than $2 billion and employs more than 6,000 Victorians. This strategy will support the continued growth of the industry, helping us to create jobs and boost our economy,” said Minister for Industry and Employment, Ben Carroll.
“Melbourne’s north is the hub of caravan manufacturing and this growing sector will provide much needed jobs in a community that has been affected by the closure of car manufacturing,” added Member for Broadmeadows Frank McGuire.
The Victorian Government has also supported the growth of the caravan manufacturing sector with the establishment of the National Caravan Industry Training College, which is a partnership between the Caravan Industry Association of Victoria and Melbourne Polytechnic.
