Schneider Electric, a prominent figure in energy management and automation’s digital transformation, has revealed the winners of its annual Schneider Electric Sustainability Impact Awards on the global stage.

Announced during the Schneider Innovation Summit 2024 in Paris, the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney emerged victorious in the ‘Impact to my enterprise’ category.

This accolade acknowledges partner, customer, and supplier organisations showcasing sustainability leadership by decarbonising their operations, the company said in a news release.

UNSW Sydney joins a select group of six enterprises worldwide recognised in this category, standing as the sole Australian representative.

With an ambitious Environmental Sustainability Plan, UNSW Sydney collaborates with partners towards sustainable development, aiming to diminish its environmental footprint and establish its campuses and practices as sustainability frontrunners.

Launched in 2022, these awards recognise how Schneider Electric’s business ecosystem contributes to a more sustainable world by employing cutting-edge technology solutions and fostering collaboration for enhanced efficiency.

This year, the selection criteria were broadened to encompass broader efforts towards achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through operational electrification and digitisation.

In the Pacific region, Airtrunk shares the ‘Impact to my enterprise’ award with UNSW. As a specialist in hyperscale data centres catering to cloud, content, and large enterprise clients across Asia Pacific and Japan, Airtrunk pioneers energy and water-efficient data centre campuses marked by industry-leading reliability and technological innovation.

The ‘Sustainability Impact to my customers’ category in the Pacific Zone saw Pacific Energy and Quasar Systems Ltd clinch joint victories.

This category honours partners facilitating sustainable leadership by empowering their customers to realise decarbonisation objectives.

Pacific Energy’s deployment of standalone power systems to one of the world’s largest grids aims to slash carbon emissions while enhancing reliability and safety.

Quasar’s implementation of an EcoStruxure Power Monitoring Expert system spans over 200 sites across New Zealand.

Schneider Electric’s Pacific Zone President, Colette Munro, expressed elation at the exceptional sustainability strides made by customers and partners in the region.

Munro applauded the sustainability initiatives, highlighting the remarkable global recognition garnered by UNSW.

“As we make progress on our path to Net Zero, I encourage other Australian businesses to look to UNSW, AirTrunk, Pacific Energy, and Quasar, which have set new benchmarks when it comes to deploying the latest and greatest sustainable technology solutions,” she remarked.

“For those unsure how to navigate the initial steps of decarbonisation, there is support available from Schneider Electric to help them commence their journey to sustainability through digitisation and energy efficiency,” Munro concluded.
