Munich-based IONITY has selected Tritium as its technology partner for the construction of 100 dedicated electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Germany, France, UK, Norway and Sweden.
Each of these high-power charging sites will have an average of up to six user units capable of delivering 350 kW of power for fast charging of modern EVs.
All the chargers will be equipped with Tritium’s unique and innovative liquid-cooled technology and the Combined Charging System (CCS) used by a wide range of vehicle manufactures.
Tritium’s CEO and Founder David Finn said the Tritium high-power chargers on the IONITY sites will be capable of adding 150 km of driving range to an EV in just five minutes.
“We already have a leading position in the European fast-charging market and could see that demand was really taking off. Which is one of the reasons we recently opened our new sales, testing and assembly facility in Amsterdam,” Mr Finn continued.
“This deal with IONITY shows just how fast the transition to EVs is happening.”
IONITY CEO Michael Hajesch said the company has chosen Tritium for its world-leading technology and ability to provide rapid delivery.
“We chose to partner with Tritium because they have a world-leading technology and have shown they can develop and deliver their products quickly,” Mr Hajesch concluded.
Founded in 2017, IONITY it is a joint venture of the BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company and the Volkswagen Group including Audi and Porsche.
The company’s main objective is to build an extensive and reliable high-power charging network for electric vehicles in Europe to make comfortable long-distance travel a reality.
