Thiess has won a $185 million contract from BHP to provide additional mining services at the company’s Mount Arthur Coal operation in the Hunter Valley.
Thiess, which has been providing load and haul services at the site since late 2016, said the new 15-month contract extends the scope of its existing operations to include mining overburden and coal at the southern end of the operation.
Thiess Managing Director Douglas Thompson noted that the company has a strong presence in the Hunter Valley and the ability to deliver the goods for its clients.
“We have a long history in the Hunter Valley dating back to the 1940s,” he said.
“We look forward to continuing to support BHP, while creating opportunities for local jobs and local suppliers.”
