Media Release by Lloyds Auctioneers and Valuers
The first 2022 Tesla Model Y has arrived in Australia and is going up for Auction with prices likely to exceed retail with the surge in demand for electric vehicles skyrocketing.
This is the latest model that Tesla has released as a more affordable version of the SUV and will be one of the first ones auctioned in Australia.
“With wait times on the Tesla Model Y being anywhere from 9 to 18 months this is the perfect opportunity to get your hands on an electric vehicle now and skip the lengthy wait times,” said Mr Lee Hames, Chief Operations Officer for Lloyds Auctions.
Lloyds Auctions, an Australian-wide auction house specialising in electric vehicle auctions, has auctioned many second-hand Tesla’s for higher prices at auction.
A report by The Committee of Sydney states that “If electric vehicles carry the vast bulk of achieving the 2030 target, 100% of passenger car sales will need to be EVs in 2027, leading to approximately 850,000 passenger EVs on the road by 2030.”
“Sydney is leading the way to reach its net zero emissions target by planning to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2027, which is not far away so people are looking for these cars now,” commented Mr Hames.
“Electric cars are rated as one of the safest cars on the road, now has never been a better time to get into the electric vehicle market,” continued Mr Hames.
This highlights that the demand in electric vehicles is reflecting the same upward pressures in pricing of petrol, having a major impact on resale pricing.
The Tesla Model Y is finished in metallic grey and has only delivery kilometres on the clock and it comes with the full warranty supplied by Tesla.
“Electric vehicles are becoming more mainstream in society and more people are turning to them for the benefits that they come with,” said Mr Hames.
The Tesla will go to auction on Monday 3rd October from 7:00 pm.
