Telstra Enterprise, in partnership with Ericsson, has announced the Australian launch of its Telstra Dedicated Networks – Industrial (TDN-I), a managed wireless solution designed to deliver private network capabilities to critical infrastructure industries.

This fully managed service provides an alternative to traditional private networks, offering enterprises access to Telstra’s licenced spectrum with guaranteed bandwidth without requiring the upfront investment in physical network infrastructure.

TDN-I aims to serve industries with complex operational needs, offering reliability and flexibility tailoured for essential, large-scale operations.

One of the country’s largest oil and gas companies is already leveraging TDN-I to advance its digital transformation.

The network supports the company’s robotic services for remote inspections, predictive maintenance through AI-powered data processing, and safer operational environments by mitigating potential hazards.

Ben Kingston, Telstra’s General Manager of Operational Technology & Industrial Networks, highlighted TDN-I’s transformative potential for enterprises undertaking Industry 5.0 transitions.

“TDN-I drives speed-to-value by reducing complexity, effort, and up-front costs. It addresses the long-standing challenge of accessing licenced cellular spectrum, particularly valuable for remote and rural customers where connectivity resiliency is critical,” Kingston said.

TDN-I offers prioritised service control for various operational needs, allowing companies to manage high-demand workloads such as Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), surveillance drones, and high-resolution video monitoring.

By leveraging Telstra’s public mobile network infrastructure and providing on-site Ericsson private cellular cores, TDN-I supports remote survivability and reduces latency, essential for operations in high-risk and geographically dispersed locations.

Emilio Romeo, Head of Ericsson Australia and New Zealand, expressed pride in supporting this innovation: “Ericsson’s private cellular network core enables Telstra’s customers to implement advanced, minimal-complexity connectivity solutions. This empowers critical industries to enhance resilience, safety, and digital transformation through high-performance private network capabilities.”

The TDN-I deployment further extends Telstra’s industrial networking portfolio, giving customers the flexibility to choose between private, hybrid, and public 5G solutions based on specific operational needs.

Aqura, a Telstra Purple company, supports TDN-I’s delivery with specialised industry expertise and professional services.

Telstra is actively exploring additional use cases for TDN-I, including environmental monitoring, remote vehicle control, and connected worker applications, across sectors such as mining, logistics, energy, utilities, and manufacturing.
