Australian defence technology manufacturer EPE and US-based company Shield AI are launching their indoor drone into the Australian and New Zealand markets. The system has received international acclaim and was described as the “most mission capable indoor drone” by the joint forces of the United States and Israel.
In a press release from EPE, the company said the Nova 2 uncrewed system uses cutting-edge path planning computer vision algorithms designed to autonomously navigate complex subterranean and multi-story buildings without GPS, communications, or a human pilot.
Veteran-managed robotics and counter explosives firm EPE recently ventured into the partnership with ShieldAI, a fast-growing defence technology company that develops artificial intelligence pilots for aircraft, as part of an effort to deliver its next era of AI to the ANZ markets.
The Nova 2 system is slated to be demonstrated at the Army Robotics Exposition in Adelaide on Thursday, 11 August, as part of the Chief of Army Symposium.
In the media statement, EPE added that it shares a mission with Shield AI of protecting ANZ soldiers with innovative solutions.
EPE is a provider of leading technologies for the Australian Defence’s Experimentation Teams in the area of Human Machine Teaming.
The company also provides for five Defence Innovation Hub Projects that develop innovative solutions to counter emerging threats.
