Minister for Small Business Madeleine Ogilvie said applications are now open for the Small Business Growth Strategy Grant Program created to further support Tasmania’s booming small business sector.
The program will offer grants of between $10,000 and $50,000 to directly finance initiatives that assist small firms in growing, improving workplace capabilities, or doing research.
Minister Ogilvie said the Rockliff Liberal Government is presenting this project because of its commitment to boosting the small business community and creating a robust economy.
“Tasmanian small businesses have demonstrated resilience, flexibility and perseverance in recent years and our Government is committed to supporting the sector and the tens of thousands of Tasmanians it employs,” she said.
Ogilvie emphasised the government has collaborated with the Tasmanian Small Business Council and the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry to establish the Tasmanian Small Business Development Plan 2026, which outlines the strategy to retain and expand the existing small company sector.
Both Tasmanian companies and Tasmanian organisations, such as chambers of commerce and peak industry associations, are eligible to apply.
Each application must address how the project relates to one of the four Small Business Growth Strategy themes, such as people and connections, place, enabling business, and technology.
The Small Business Growth Strategy 2026 is available on the Business Tasmania website and applicants should read the themes and associated objectives before applying.
Applications close on 4 April 2023.
The introduction of the Small Business Growth Strategy 2026 will be followed by a series of implementation plans that will outline the actions to be delivered against the objectives set forth within the strategy.
