Tamar Hydro and their business partner, Genco Energy, have secured a $300 million contract to build a hydro network in Indonesia.
Tamar’s scope of work, valued at $45 million, includes building turbines for the project before shipping them to be installed in rural regions across Indonesia.
According to the company, the turbines will be built in Tasmania and will enable the creation of 20 advanced manufacturing jobs for the north.
Tasmanian Minister for State Growth, Peter Gutwein, said Tamar Hydro’s investments in its business over the last few years were beginning to pay dividends for the Exeter-based company.
“Over the last three years Tamar Hydro has steadily grown its business and today’s announcement is the icing on the cake,” the Minister said.
“The 20 new jobs this announcement will create is a shot in the arm for the economy. Tamar Hydro’s strategic alliance will provide further opportunities to undertake projects and to showcase Tasmania’s expertise in hydro energy generation.”
