Rewiring Australia has welcomed the federal government’s move to boost offshore wind development through proposed new guidelines for research and demonstration licenses.

Rooftop solar and distributed energy resources are set to deliver the most cost-effective energy for Australians, while nuclear power remains too costly and slow to address the nation’s energy challenges, according to Rewiring Australia founder and chief scientist Dr Saul Griffith.

Rewiring Australia has called for a comprehensive revamp of the National Electricity Market (NEM) in a bid to tackle soaring energy costs and align with Australia's ambitious emissions and renewable energy targets for 2030.
