Vast Renewables Limited, a renewable energy company utilising concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) systems, has signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with global energy company Mabanaft to propel Solar Methanol 1 (SM1), a CSP-powered green methanol reference plant, forward.

Renewable energy technology firm Vast Solar has entered into a Business Combination Agreement with Nabors Energy Transition Corp. (NETC) valued at $586 million – a deal that will result in Vast listing on the New York Stock Exchange while remaining headquartered in Australia.

The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) announced Monday that on behalf of the Australian Government, it had granted $65 million in funding for Vast Solar to build VS1, a unique 30 MW/ 288 MWh concentrated solar power (CSP) plant near Port Augusta, South Australia.

Vast Solar, a leading manufacturer in the cleantech industry, and the Solar Methanol Consortium are slated to receive AUD 19.48 million and EUR 13.2 million (AUD 20.2 million) as part of a collaboration between the Australian and German governments. 

Vast Solar has successfully manufactured its world-leading concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) technology at its Prototype Manufacturing Facility in Goodna, Queensland, paving the way for full-scale manufacturing plants in Australia that will employ dozens of skilled workers.
