Queenslanders can enjoy a great Christmas dinner and give our farmers a shot in the arm by insisting on great-tasting Queensland produce for their Christmas dinner tables this year.
Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries Mark Furner said Queensland produce would be at the centre of his Christmas festive celebrations, and urged all Queenslanders to do the same.
“Our farmers are still producing the best fresh produce in the world despite a difficult year with drought and natural disasters,” Mr Furner said.
“Some are in their seventh year of drought but they are still doing their work with pride and, where possible, growing the best fresh food that money can buy.”
Mr Furner said supporting farmers by buying their produce was an investment in the future of Queensland.
“Every time you buy Queensland produce you are keeping money in the Queensland economy and you are supporting Queensland jobs,” Mr Furner said.
“We launched our #eatqld campaign this year because we want every Queenslander to celebrate great Queensland produce and spread the good word.
“We have a growing global reputation for our produce that is helping us to grow export markets, particularly in Asia.
“We can all help that reputation by sharing the best of Queensland produce on our social media pages with #eatqld.”
This Christmas season great tasting Queensland produce has also inspired a musical performance by the Redland Rhapsody Chorus.
