Visy, Australia’s largest integrated recycler and remanufacturer, is taking significant steps to reduce its energy consumption by partnering with two solar energy companies to install solar panels at select facilities across the country.

The initiative is set to cut electricity use at six Victorian sites by 7 per cent and reduce consumption at the Yatala beverage can facility in Queensland by 23 per cent.

Ryan Santowski, Visy’s General Manager for Energy, emphasised the company’s commitment to sustainability.

“While many of our products have up to 100% recycled content—made from household and business recycling—we’re always looking for ways to further reduce our environmental impact and energy footprint,” he said.

Santowski added, “Installing solar panels on our sites is one of the many ways we continue to invest in green power and improve the sustainability of the food and beverage packaging we make.”

In Victoria, Visy collaborated with Energy Aware to install a combined 2,400 KW of solar panels across six sites.

Meanwhile, in Queensland, the company is partnering with 1K5° Commercial to establish its largest solar system to date—a 2,100 KW setup at the Yatala beverage can factory, expected to be operational by December.

Visy is rolling out solar panel installations at multiple sites across Victoria, including its food can facilities in Wodonga and Shepparton, as well as its cardboard packaging sites in Truganina, Kilsyth, Wodonga, and Dandenong.
