CIMIC Group’s Sedgman announced its partnership with enviroMETS Qld to identify innovative and sustainable repurposing, re-commercialisation, and remediation solutions for mining-impacted land.
In a statement, CIMIC Group said the Sedgman team has experience in mine rehabilitation, and it will apply that knowledge to this exceptional opportunity to work with the government, researchers, mine owners, and METS companies to find solutions for abandoned mines that leave behind not only a landscape that has been restored but also beneficial cultural and community legacies.
According to CIMIC Group, a low-emissions future is only achievable by mining critical minerals to support renewable technologies. enviroMETS Qld and Sedgman will collaborate to attract the industry’s finest and brightest to help offer sustainable mining solutions in Queensland and around the world.
Sedgman will contribute to enviroMETS Qld’s aim to encourage projects that provide innovative mine closure solutions that leave a positive legacy as part of the collaboration.

According to CIMIC Group, Sedgman is a mineral processing expert with extensive experience designing and implementing creative solutions for lowering tailings volumes in tailings reprocessing and dewatering projects.
Meanwhile, enviroMETS Qld is an independent, industry-led, not-for-profit company founded with the purpose of finding innovative and sustainable new ways to increase the value of mining-impacted land to its present and future custodians.
