Energy management and automation leader Schneider Electric announced it is strategically leveraging Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) to revolutionise customer empowerment and streamline internal operations.

Through an extensive collaboration with Microsoft, Schneider Electric is integrating Microsoft Azure OpenAI to develop solutions that harness algorithms capable of generating text, code, and various content types.

This integration has allowed Schneider Electric to reimagine its approach to operational processes, optimising resource allocation, enhancing efficiency, and speeding up time-consuming tasks, the company said in a news release.

Concurrently, the company is applying GenAI to drive innovation across its portfolio of offerings.

A key highlight of Schneider Electric’s use of GenAI is the Resource Advisor Copilot, which employs Large Language Model technology via Microsoft Azure OpenAI.

This innovation integrates Copilot as a digital companion within Resource Advisor, providing customers with advanced data analysis, decision support, performance optimisation, and the capability to seamlessly process intricate industry knowledge and system information within Resource Advisor.

Additionally, internal applications include Jo-Chat GPT, a conversational assistant, and Finance Advisor, offering a streamlined approach for financial analysts in accounting and global finance functions.

Furthermore, Schneider Electric has introduced a Knowledge Bot, assisting customer care representatives in quickly accessing precise information for customer queries, along with conversational search capabilities that facilitate natural product searches in customer interactions.

The company is actively exploring the integration of Github Copilot and Sales Copilot to further enhance offer creation processes and empower frontline employees.

Philippe Rambach, chief AI officer at Schneider Electric, underscored the transformative impact of Generative AI, describing it as a “game-changer.”

He stated, “It has already allowed us to enhance internal productivity, and it aligns perfectly with our commitment to continuous improvement and impactful innovation focused on sustainability.”

Launched in 2021, Schneider Electric’s AI hub organisation responded to the rise of GenAI technology by establishing a dedicated core team to identify early application opportunities in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

“Microsoft Azure OpenAI allows Schneider to develop agile, scalable, cost-effective and AI-powered solutions which are in line with our shared ambitions for a sustainable and digitised future.” said Dominik Wee, corporate vice president, Manufacturing and Mobility at Microsoft.
