Saunders International announced that Ampol has awarded it a $9.3 million contract to deliver a new fuel storage tank at its Lytton Refinery in Brisbane’s Port.
The scope of the project includes the design and building of a new 31-metre-wide, 20-metre-high jet fuel storage tank that will meet the stringent quality assurance criteria involved with the storage and delivery of aviation fuels to airports, the company said in an ASX announcement.
Throughout the construction phase, the refinery will continue to run, and Saunders will collaborate closely with the Ampol operational team to optimise design planning, guaranteeing the market will continue to receive high-quality fuels.
The agreement, which is a component of Ampol’s Future Fuels Desulphurisation Project at the refinery, aims to increase Australia’s fuel security and provide customers with fuel with reduced emissions.
Mark Benson, Saunders’ managing director and chief executive officer, expressed his delight at the recent investment.
“We’re incredibly proud of our long-standing relationship with Ampol, and excited to have been awarded this strategically significant project,” he remarked.
The project’s mobilisation is scheduled to start this month, Saunders revealed.
It is anticipated to be finished by the end of 2024.
From FY24 to FY25, the project is said to increase Saunders’ income and profits.
