One hundred jobs are expected to be generated with the expansion of San Francisco-based Zendesk in Melbourne.
The company has relocated in a new building where it will increase capacity and continue to develop its renowned cloud-integrated software solution that provides helpdesk ticketing, issue tracking and customer service support for more than 40,000 customers in 40 languages in 140 countries.
According to the media release by the Premier of Victoria, the Napthine Government is dedicated to supporting advancements in technology and technology-related businesses in the state, with $1 billion in investments dedicated to the sector so far.
The Government’s investment and support has resulted with the creation of 4700 jobs.
“Victoria’s very strong IT skills base, outstanding R&D capabilities and growing strengths in areas like cloud computing and data analytics brought Zendesk here to expand its international software development team. Zendesk established its Asia Pacific headquarters in Melbourne in 2011 and its Asia Pacific Development Centre in 2012. It has doubled its Melbourne work force from 20 to 40 employees in the past year,” said Minister for Technology Gordon Rich-Phillips.
“Today, Zendesk has more than 1500 customers in Australia and New Zealand and its Melbourne-based team is developing new products such as Zendesk Insights to help companies measure the impact of customer service interactions. The company’s expansion highlights our state’s growing attractiveness as a destination for IT investment in the Asia Pacific region.”
Zendesk has 600 employees and five software development centres in the world, including Melbourne.
The company was founded in Copenhagen in 2007 and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange this May.
Mr Rich-Phillips further added that the Government will continue its efforts to make Victoria a leading technology hub “that attracts companies like Zendesk.”
