Rivian will expand its manufacturing activities by establishing a second unit in Georgia, United States.
The project entails a $5 billion investment in site development and manufacturing.
Rivian is scaling fast toward higher-capacity production for its future generation of products, and the factory, which will eventually employ more than 7,500 people.
The Georgia plant will be able to produce up to 400,000 automobiles per year once it is fully operational.
Construction on the facility is set to begin in the summer of 2022, with production beginning in 2024.

“We’re excited for Georgians to bring their creativity and ideas to Rivian. We’re confident that, alongside Illinois, Georgia is the place for Rivian to continue to scale and thrive.”
Rivian is also increasing capacity at its current Normal, Illinois plant.
The company’s Normal plant recently received approval for a 623,000-square-foot expansion, bringing the firm’s overall area to almost 4 million square feet, with plans to expand warehousing, storage, and production capacity onsite.
Rivian plans to hire an additional 800-1,000 people by the second quarter of 2022.
