Leading aerospace composite company Quickstep Holdings has doubled the size of its Geelong facility to accommodate new orders from leading Australian drone companies.

In a media statement, Quickstep said several drone-related engineering and production orders have been received in August from customers within Australia and abroad, further reinforcing the need for additional space and an increase at the Geelong site.

The secured contracts include a new $5.4 million sale to Swoop Aero, an amendment to the existing three-year strategic supply agreement and an incremental $4 million increase from the order announced in October last year.

Work for the Swoop Aero order is expected to be completed over the next 12 months.

“The drone market is growing rapidly, and high-rate manufacturing solutions are a critical component of customer success. We are also excited that our engineering solutions and manufacturing offerings are gaining significant traction both here in Australia and in international markets,” said Steve Osborne, Quickstep’s business leader for applied composites.
