Queensland Pacific Metals Ltd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, QPM Energy (QPME), has signed an Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) with the Widi Aboriginal Corporation (WAC), representing the Traditional Owners of the land.
According to QPM, the ILUA, which incorporates cooperation with the Widi People, is significant to fulfilling Native Title requirements.
The company said in a press release it aims to boost waste gas collection and production at this Northern Hub by constructing additional infrastructure.
In particular, the Northern Hub and the Southern Hub are the two primary hubs of the QPME waste gas collection project. The latter includes the recently acquired Moranbah Project, as well as the associated gas processing and compression infrastructure.
Located approximately 40 kilometres north of Moranbah, the Northern Hub is strategically located in a region of the Northern Bowen Basin known for its high gas result.
WAC expressed its support for the project: “The Widi people welcome and support QPM Energy’s developments in the Northern Bowen Basin and we look forward to working with David Wrench and his team on opportunities.
“We further endorse QPM Energy’s carbon abatement strategy, capturing waste gas from these mines and minimising the effect on our land and the environment around us.”
According to the ASX-listed company, environmental approvals are also nearing completion for the development of the hub.
The Queensland Government has granted QPME an Environmental Authority for the Northern Hub, bringing the project one step closer to operational readiness.
The Northern Hub project’s federal environmental approvals are also nearing completion. When QPME receives approval for these, it will be ready to build new waste gas collection infrastructure to the north of its existing operations.
