Australia’s 70 MW Moree Solar Farm (MSF) – owned by Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FVR) – has begun to install the batches of solar modules provided by world leading manufacturer of high-performance solar power products JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd.
The company began delivery in June and will keep delivering JAP6-315 and JAP6-310 modules to meet all 70MW.
MSF is funded by FRV with the support of the Australian Government through a grant of AUD$101.7 million from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and debt on commercial terms from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC).
The farm is located 10 km south of Moree, in northern New South Wales. Once in full operation, it will have a capacity of 56MWac (70MWp) and will generate enough electricity to supply around 15,000 homes.
The project is scheduled to be completed by early 2016 and will have an operating life of around 30 years.
“The Moree Solar Farm is currently the largest solar farm under construction in Australia. Once completed, MSF will produce enough electricity to power the equivalent of nearly 15,000 New South Wales homes and abate nearly 95,000 tons of carbon pollution each year. Additionally, it will create more than 100 jobs during its construction,” said Andrea Fontana, Australia Country Manager of FRV.
