Orica has unveiled the most recent iteration of Champ Navigator2 technology, developed by Orica Digital Solutions in Tewkesbury, England, to bolster the Australian mining industry.

This advancement marks the newest development within Axis Mining Technology’s range, seamlessly integrating intricate surveying measurements into hardware that can be operated by drillers, Orica said in a media release.

In particular, the Champ Navigator2 builds upon the success of its predecessor, enhancing the platform to provide even greater accuracy and versatility in measuring orientations.

This innovation is crucial in the resource exploration process, where precise knowledge of resource location is essential for optimising the entire value chain from exploration to processing.

“Orica Digital Solutions is continually expanding our offerings to solve more of our customers’ challenges, and Axis is at the forefront of this in the Orebody Intelligence space,” stated Rajkumar Mathiravedu, vice president of Orica Digital Solutions.

He added, “Our global team of hardware and software engineers build the best-in-class user experience not just for the initial users of the tools or recipients of the data, but for any divisions who need the data for downstream operations.”

One of the key features of Champ Navigator2 is its high-density true vertical continuous survey measurement capability, which significantly enhances North-Seek azimuth accuracy and repeatability across all measurement modes.

The company said this improvement not only boosts productivity but also reduces standby costs for customers, making it a valuable asset in mining operations.

Moreover, the integration of complementary software further enhances the capabilities of Champ Navigator2, aiming to accelerate and streamline mining workflows.

The user-friendly interface ensures ease of operation, whether in underground or surface drilling environments, thereby increasing confidence and efficiency from the collar to the final survey execution.
