Olympic champion Ariarne Titmus is urging Australians to support local manufacturers and producers by taking part in Australian Made Week from 19 to 25 May.

As the official ambassador for this year’s campaign, Titmus is calling on consumers to ‘Go for Gold’ by choosing products that carry the Australian Made green-and-gold kangaroo logo.

“As a proud Aussie, I’m super excited to fly the flag for Australian Made goods and to recognise and celebrate the hard work, guts, and determination that it takes to be successful as a home-grown producer despite tough competition,” Titmus said.

Known for her own resilience and competitive spirit, the three-time individual Olympic gold medallist and world record holder in the 200m and 400m freestyle events sees a strong connection between her journey and the dedication of Australian manufacturers.

Having moved from Tasmania to Brisbane at the age of 15 to pursue her swimming career, Titmus credits hard work and strong support systems as key to achieving success.

“I believe you can do anything with a strong work ethic and the right people behind you,” she said. “That’s why I’m throwing my support behind my fellow Aussies who are dedicated to creating locally made products for us to enjoy here and around the world.”

Australian Made Chief Executive Ben Lazzaro welcomed Titmus as the face of this year’s campaign, emphasising that she represents the same values of perseverance and excellence that define Australian-made products.

“Arnie embodies the Australian values of hard work and resilience, which are qualities that our local makers and growers show every day in producing products that bear the iconic Australian Made logo,” Lazzaro said.

“She is a true champion and a fitting ambassador for our annual celebration of Australian manufacturers. We are absolutely thrilled that she will headline our campaign to raise awareness of the importance of buying local.”

The Australian Made logo, which has been in use for over 35 years, serves as a certification of authenticity for locally produced goods across various industries, including automotive, beauty, clothing, and household products.

The campaign highlights that purchasing Australian Made products supports local jobs and contributes to regional economies.

Australian Made Week will be promoted through television, radio, print, and online advertisements featuring Titmus.
