Oly Homes, a Sunshine Coast-based builder, has delivered two purpose-built modular homes designed for seniors to the Thallon community in South West Queensland.

These homes, part of the Queensland Government’s Quickstarts Queensland initiative, offer a housing solution for ageing residents who wish to remain connected to their local community.

The project follows Oly Homes’ delivery of nine modular homes and accessible units to Thursday Island in late 2024.

The two homes in Thallon are tailored to meet the specific needs of seniors, particularly those with mobility challenges.

“We built these two Gold LHA homes with a specific focus on catering to the needs of seniors living in Thallon, including those who have challenges with mobility,” said General Manager Steven Nousala.

The homes were constructed in our Yandina factory over a three-month period, which I are reportedly faster than conventional building methods, which can be delayed by weather, supply issues, and availability of tradespeople.

“Once the homes were completed off site we transported them to Thallon where ancillary services such as connections, driveways and fences were completed for the first residents to move in,” Nousala said.

Nousala highlighted that the modular approach is a faster and more adaptable solution for regional and remote communities, allowing the company to deliver much-needed housing in a fraction of the time compared to conventional construction methods.
