Bradfield City Centre’s Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF), a state-of-the-art NSW Government initiative, has completed its first project, marking a significant step forward in the region’s advanced manufacturing sector.

Marley Flow Control, a Western Sydney-based engineering company, is the first business to utilise the AMRF’s expertise, the government said in a news release.

A time-study project conducted at the facility identified operational efficiencies that could potentially boost the company’s productivity sixfold and reduce production costs by an estimated 15 per cent to 20 per cent.

Building on this success, Marley Flow Control is now working with the AMRF to develop an innovative product design.

Located in Bradfield City Centre within the Aerotropolis, the facility provides businesses with access to world-class technology and expert guidance to innovate, scale up, and compete in global markets.

It supports high-priority industries such as aerospace, defence, medtech, and agriculture, serving as a catalyst for economic and technological development in Western Sydney.

Ken Morrison, CEO of the Bradfield Development Authority, highlighted the importance of the facility in transforming the local manufacturing landscape.

“The AMRF is a NSW Government strategy to accelerate innovation and grow businesses in Western Sydney. Western Sydney is home to one of the largest concentrations of manufacturing businesses in Australia, and the AMRF is a resource to support them innovate, grow, and provide more jobs,” he said.

Ben Kitcher, executive director of the AMRF, said the facility’s practical approach would help businesses achieve a competitive edge.

“By focusing on practical and implementable solutions to solve manufacturing challenges, the AMRF will help local businesses become more globally competitive. Proving out new technologies, scaling up, and commercialising will save businesses precious time, resources, and money,” he stated.

Marley Flow Control specialises in cooling tower manufacturing and maintenance, flow control engineering, and large-scale fan production.

Gareth Jones, Director of Marley Flow Control, expressed optimism about the collaboration with the AMRF.

“Working with the AMRF, tapping into their engineering expertise and expert knowledge to improve our manufacturing processes and ways of working, will enable us to increase productivity and reduce costs. Simple changes could make a massive difference to our operations,” he said.

Jones added that this marks the start of a long-term partnership with the AMRF to develop new product offerings.
