NSW businesses will showcase their advanced defence and aerospace capabilities at Avalon 2025, the largest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
The airshow, set to attract up to 48,000 industry delegates from 28 nations, provides an opportunity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from New South Wales to enhance their industry presence and expand into domestic and international markets.
The NSW Government is supporting 36 businesses exhibiting at the event, offering them a platform to demonstrate their expertise in defence-related products, services, and dual-use technologies.
With NSW home to 40 per cent of Australia’s defence and aerospace businesses, the state continues to position itself as a key hub for investment in line with national priorities for an integrated and focused force.
Among the exhibitors is Australian Aerospace Engineering (AAE), a NSW-based SME from Albury, which is marking its 20th year of operation.
The company provides aircraft maintenance, manufacturing, and hardware solutions for both Defence and commercial operators.
AAE recently established the only Eaton Aeroquip® hose shop in the region, manufacturing aerospace hose products for Defence applications.
Investment NSW Deputy Secretary Rebecca McPhee highlighted the significance of the government’s support for the industry, stating that the sector employs 22,700 people in NSW and contributes $3.4 billion to the economy.
She emphasised that Avalon provides an important platform for showcasing NSW’s strengths across land, sea, air, space, and cyber domains, reinforcing the government’s commitment to fostering industry collaboration, innovation, and job creation.
“We are home to businesses with advanced capabilities across all five domains of defence – land, sea, air, space and cyber – and events like Avalon are a powerful platform to showcase the best of NSW innovation and ingenuity.”
AAE CEO Adam Johnston acknowledged the event’s role in the company’s success, stating that Avalon has been instrumental in establishing AAE as a trusted supplier to Defence and major industry players.
“The Eaton Aeroquip® product is the most reliable and proven aerospace hose brand in the world. Under the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) approval we have the capability to manufacture hose products for most commercial aircraft and also ADF platforms such as the MQ-28 Ghost Bat, UH-60M Black Hawk, MH-60R Seahawk, CH-47F Chinook and C130J Hercules,” Johnston noted.
Delegates and industry representatives can explore NSW’s capabilities further at stand 2M9 during Avalon 2025.
