The New South Wales Government announced that the “best and brightest” defence and aerospace companies will showcase their capabilities to key global decision-makers at the 2023 Australian International Airshow & Aerospace and Defence Exposition (AVALON 2023).
The NSW Government said it will support 39 businesses and research organisations in order for them to attend the said event from 28 February to 05 March.
In particular, businesses from NSW will highlight critical components from industries such as radio frequency sensors, counter drones, satellite systems, and ground stations to manufacturing, cyber security, telecommunications, and artificial intelligence.
According to Investment NSW CEO Katie Knight, disruptions in international supply chains and rising geopolitical tensions have made a stronger sovereign defence and aerospace industry a national priority.
“With 40% of Australia’s defence industry and more than a quarter of all national defence personnel at 100 ADF facilities, bases, and training sites across NSW, we are integral to building and sustaining the nation’s defence capability and capacity underpinned by our technologically advanced, industrial base and highly skilled workforce,” Knight said.
For top aerospace, aviation, space, and defense industrial, military, and government decision-makers from Australia and overseas, Knight said AVALON 2023 provides a worldwide stage for NSW enterprises to display the breadth and depth of their sophisticated capabilities.
Henry Bilinsky, founder and CEO of MicroTau, said the expo is the ideal venue to introduce potential partners and domestic and international aviation operators to his advanced manufacturing company’s drag-reducing “shark skin” film.
“Our technology can save the commercial aviation industry US$20 billion worth of fuel and prevent 92 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually,” Bilinsky said.
The CEO added that the assistance from the NSW Government is beneficial as the expo puts companies in front of industry leaders to grow customer pipelines and display expertise in scaling deep tech and advanced manufacturing.
The NSW stand is located at AVALON 2023’s Hall 2 Booth 2M8.
