NowChem (Nowra Chemicals) has been awarded a State Government grant to build a facility for filling pharmaceutical products on the South Coast, the ABC has reported.

The new Therapeutic Cell Filling Centre is expected to increase the company’s operational efficiency and create more than a dozen jobs.
“So this will allow us to now have a separate area where we fill pharmaceutical products to where we manufacture them. Currently both process stages take place in the one room,” said John Lamont, the company’s Managing Director.
“With growth of the organisation under this current program, this will allow us to increase our capacity by at least 35%. It will allow us to do both activities at the same time, and be much more efficient.”
He said the venture would generate 10 new jobs at the business as well as additional jobs during construction.
“Initially once the project is up and running it will be six new jobs and it will be expanded up to 10 new jobs over the next two years. There will be seven or eight trades’ people working at one time on the site to do the expansion over the next four months.”
NSW Minister for Small Businesses John Barilaro said NowChem’s expansion was an important investment for the region, but did not disclose the figure of funding due to being commercial in confidence.
“High-value manufacturing is the way we see it. It really does cement that this business is here long term and it’s part of what the government does in looking for capacity, opportunities, so that we can continue to grow jobs in regional New South Wales,” Mr Barilaro said.
