Nominations are now officially open for the highly anticipated 2024 WasteSorted Awards, marking an opportunity to honour the efforts of Western Australians dedicated to fostering a low-waste future through their commitment to enhanced waste management practices and innovative solutions.
This event serves as a platform to recognise outstanding contributions across various sectors, including individuals, businesses, local governments, community groups, and schools, the government said in a media release.
The awards span a diverse range of categories, encompassing the Community Waste Award, Schools Award, Business Award, Waste Champion Individual Award, Waste Champion Team Award, Local Government/Regional Council Award, Regional Award, Community Engagement Award, Innovation Award, and Closing the Loop Award.
Environment Minister Reece Whitby expressed his anticipation for honouring the accomplishments of Western Australians dedicated to waste reduction and environmental preservation through the WasteSorted Awards.
He emphasised the importance of recognising individuals and organisations striving to implement innovative approaches for waste reduction, reuse, and recycling.
“I look forward to celebrating the achievements of Western Australians who are championing new and exciting ways to reduce, reuse and recycle waste,” the minister remarked.
The culmination of this celebration will take place during a grand gala dinner ceremony at Crown Perth in September, coinciding with the esteemed annual Waste and Recycle Conference hosted at the same venue.
With nominations set to close on 27 May 2024, interested parties are encouraged to visit the Waste Authority website for comprehensive details on the nomination process and submission guidelines.
