The Return and Earn program has introduced an innovative “takes all” trial at the Narrandera Recycling Return and Earn machine, eliminating the need for pre-sorting eligible drink containers.

Residents can now deposit all eligible bottles, cans, and cartons through a single chute, streamlining the process to claim a 10-cent refund per container, as revealed in a media release.

Located in the car park at 16 Red Hill Road, Narrandera, the upgraded machine operates from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm on weekdays and 10:00 am to 7:00 pm on weekends.

The initiative aims to make recycling more convenient for the community, enhancing participation in the scheme.

“Narrandera Shire Council residents are already enthusiastic recyclers, having returned over 10.755 million eligible bottles, cans, and cartons through local return points since the scheme began,” said James Dorney, CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway, the network operator for Return and Earn.

“These improvements to local return points will make it even easier and quicker to return your eligible bottles and cans and pocket the refund,” he noted.

Refund options include printable vouchers redeemable for cash at Coles, e-vouchers, or direct payments via bank or PayPal accounts using the Return and Earn app.

The platform also offers an opportunity to support charitable causes, with over 300 donation partners available, including the current statewide partner Foodbank NSW & ACT.

Since its launch in 2017, the Return and Earn program has recycled more than 12.5 billion drink containers across New South Wales, resulting in over $1.25 billion in container refunds returned to the public.

The initiative has also raised over $62 million for charities and community groups through donations and hosting fees.

“I encourage everyone in the region to continue to make Return and Earn a part of your routine,” added Dorney.

“Together, we are all contributing to a more sustainable future, keeping valuable materials in use and out of landfill.”
