Toyota is preparing to unleash its next-generation Kluger SUV which will bring greater comfort, driving enjoyment and safety for its potential customers once it hits the showrooms in March this year.
The company’s engineers have fine-tuned the platform, suspension and electric power steering to ensure that the seven-seater glides seamlessly across the road and communicates more directly to the driver.
These new features make for improved handling, especially on rough surfaces and in corners, providing greater comfort and safety.
The new Toyota Kluger also features enlarged cabin space in the third row and cargo areas due to the layout of the rear suspension and shock absorbers being placed relatively low, and coil springs located under the floor.
According to the press release on Toyota, every third-generation Kluger will feature seven air-bags, a reversing camera, vehicle stability and traction control, as well as electronic-brake-force distribution, brake assist, hill-start assist control and four-wheel disc brakes. The premium versions will also feature a pre-collision system with dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert and automatic high beam headlights.
“The new Kluger is the latest vehicle to embrace Toyota’s commitment to producing vehicles with progressive styling, a more refined interior and with handling and ride comfort that rekindle the fun of driving,” said Mr Tony Cramb, Toyota Australia’s Executive Sales and Marketing Director.
Available in two-wheel and all-wheel drive, the latter will also incorporate Dynamic Torque Control, which continually monitors and controls torque transfer between the front and rear wheels via an electro-magnetically controlled coupling in the rear differential.
The new Toyota Kluger, which is built at the company’s Indiana plant in the United States, will be powered by a 3.5 litre V6 engine driven through a new six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission that enables reduced fuel consumption.
Since the introduction of the first Toyota Kluger model in 2003, the company has managed to sell over 100,000 units in Australia.
