NetApp’s 2024 Cloud Complexity Report has revealed the unfolding era of “disrupt or die” driven by AI on a global scale, underscoring the significance of a unified data approach, and showcasing the stark contrast between AI leaders and laggards.
According to the report, the divide between AI leaders and laggards is evident across various parameters such as regions, industries, and company sizes.
Key findings include AI-leading countries (e.g., India, Singapore, UK, USA) exhibit higher rates of AI project implementation compared to AI-lagging countries (e.g., Spain, Australia/New Zealand, Germany, Japan).
Furthermore, industries like technology lead in AI adoption, while sectors such as healthcare and media & entertainment trail behind.
According to the analysis, larger companies are more inclined towards AI projects compared to smaller ones.
The report highlighted that AI leaders tend to embrace hybrid IT environments more readily and experience greater benefits from AI implementation, including increased production rates, automation of routine tasks, and enhanced customer experiences.
NetApp’s Chief Marketing Officer Gabie Boko emphasised the importance of data-ready enterprises with intelligent data infrastructures in navigating the AI-driven landscape successfully.
In the Asia-Pacific region, there are variations in AI adoption across industries and geographies, but optimising IT environments before AI deployment is crucial for maximising returns.
Notably, the report stated that some AI-lagging countries have already witnessed benefits from unified data infrastructures, such as easier data sharing and increased visibility.
Looking ahead, companies, regardless of their AI maturity level, are increasing investments in AI-driven cloud deployments and prioritising enhancements in CloudOps automation and data security.
The report’s methodology involved a quantitative research study conducted in March 2024, partnering with Savanta to survey over 1,300 tech and data executives across 10 markets.
