Mulford Plastics has announced the expansion of its manufacturing facility in Melbourne, a move aimed at increasing production capacity and enhancing market reach.
The company, which produces Laserlite Building Products in Dandenong, sees the expansion as a strategic step toward strengthening its presence in Victoria and beyond, as stated in a news release by Invest Victoria.
“This project strengthens our ability to serve Victorian customers, reach new markets, and establish a foundation for regional growth. Melbourne’s strong and growing customer base and strategic connectivity make it the perfect hub to expand our manufacturing capacity,” said Perry Pericleous, Managing Director of Mulford Plastics.
According to the company, the decision to expand in Melbourne was influenced by several factors, including the city’s projected population growth, its role in major infrastructure projects, and its well-established customer base.
Melbourne is expected to become Australia’s largest city by 2033–34, presenting opportunities for businesses in the construction and manufacturing sectors.
Additionally, the Victorian Government’s $90 billion Big Build initiative and other infrastructure projects contribute to a robust pipeline of demand for building materials.
The company worked closely with Invest Victoria’s Melbourne office during the expansion process, leveraging its expertise in local business regulations and connections with key stakeholders.
“Invest Victoria’s insight into the local business environment increased our confidence in Melbourne and made our investment journey easy,” Pericleous added.
The expansion is expected to strengthen Victoria’s manufacturing sector by reducing reliance on interstate suppliers and shortening lead times for construction projects.
By increasing local production capacity, the project is also anticipated to improve cost efficiencies and enhance the state’s overall competitiveness in building materials manufacturing.
