McKenzie’s Foods, a household name known for its high-quality pantry staples, has teamed up with Tetra Pak, a leader in food and beverage packaging, to introduce a new range of pre-cooked pulses.

The pulses are packaged in Tetra Recart, a groundbreaking solution claimed with the lowest CO2 footprint on the market in Australia and New Zealand.

The new range, featuring five varieties of ready-to-serve pulses, includes Cannellini Beans, Chickpeas, Lentils, Red Kidney Beans, and a Three Bean Mix.

Micaela McGee, Marketing & Innovation Manager at McKenzie’s Foods, highlighted the motivation behind this initiative, stating, “McKenzie’s  has been the market leader of dried pulses in Australia for decades, however we recognise  that not all home cooks have time in their day to soak dried pulses before they begin  preparing their meal.”

McGee further emphasised the brand’s commitment to sustainability, saying, “Offering consumers a pre-cooked option for pulses has been a goal of ours for some time  and part of this process included searching for suitable eco-conscious packaging.”

She continued, “Tetra  Recart is the perfect solution – we’re thrilled to offer a delicious, ready-to-eat product that  caters to the needs of eco-conscious and convenience-seeking Australians.”

The Tetra Recart packaging is recognised for its practicality, providing a user-friendly alternative to traditional cans.

It also offers environmental benefits, including up to six times less climate impact, a structure that is 60 per cent lighter, and a design that reduces transport space by 20 per cent.

Meanwhile, Giancarlos Larocca, marketing director at Tetra Pak Oceania, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, noting,“Supporting food and beverage brands, like McKenzie’s, as they transition to innovative and  sustainable packaging solutions is fundamental part of addressing challenges across food  systems.”

He added, “This is something our team is innately passionate about, as we work to make food  safe and available around the world.”

McKenzie’s new range in Tetra Recart is available exclusively at Woolworths stores nationwide, priced at RRP $2.20 per unit.
