Global subscription-based meal kit provider Marley Spoon AG has reached an agreement to acquire Australian ready-to-heat meal provider Chefgood, for up to $21 million.

Founded by passionate foodies Michelle Sievwright and fine dining chef Susan McKay, Chefgood is a Melbourne-based company that manufactures ready-to-eat meals. It offers over 30 meals that rotate every week across various subscription programs aimed at healthy and weight-conscious customers, as well as a small selection of add-on items.

Rolf Weber, global Chief Operating Officer of Marley Spoon, said adding Chefgood to the company’s existing portfolio of brands (Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon, Marley Spoon, and Dinnerly), would enable Marley Spoon to address more customer segments and meal occasions.

He said he was looking forward to working with the Chefgood founder and CEO Michelle Sievwright and team to grow the brand even further.

“We are very excited to be partnering with Michelle and the Chefgood team since we share the same vision of making our customers’ lives easier with easy, tasty, and high-quality meal solutions,” Mr Webber added.

Ms Sievwright, who has a strong focus on the customer experience and food quality, is committed to further growing the Chefgood brand over the coming years.

“We are all about healthy, tasty, honest food. Everyone at Chefgood is looking forward to working with Marley Spoon as we share their philosophy of delighting our customers,” she noted.

The acquisition is expected to close in January 2022.
