The McGowan Government is encouraging Western Australian exporters, including manufacturing and advanced materials experts, to apply for the Western Australian Export Awards 2023.
The WA Export Awards, now in its 35th year, honour the outstanding local export talent and acknowledge the vital contribution that export enterprises make to the growth of the state and national economies.
To date, goods and services exports have contributed more than $250 billion to the WA economy in 2021-22, the government revealed in a media statement.
Applications are now being accepted for thirteen prize categories that highlight the state’s wide variety of exports.
WA exporters are encouraged to apply in other categories, including advanced technologies, agribusiness, food and beverages, creative industries, e-commerce, and emerging exporter.
Merchants related to minerals, energy, and related services; professional Services; regional exporters; small businesses; or sustainability and green economy are also urged to participate.
State Development, Jobs and Trade Minister Roger Cook stated the McGowan Government is devoted to expanding our export market in order to diversify the economy and generate employment.
“For 35 years, the Western Australian Export Awards have been an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding results of the State’s exports and their resilience,” Cook said.
According to him, the recognition provided by the awards helps to increase the export capacity and export profile of the state’s industrial sectors and encourages other companies to enter international markets.
The winners, including the WA Exporter of the Year, will be announced at a gala dinner in October to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the awards.
The Australian Export Awards will be held in Canberra in November, and all WA winners will advance to take part there.
At the 2022 Australian Export Awards, exporters from Western Australia won in three categories, including the following: Agribusiness, Food, and Beverages 2GR Wagyu Beef; International Education and Training at Stanley College; and International Health Little Green Pharma.
