Integrated shipping and transport logistics company SeaRoad officially opened its new facility in Launceston on Wednesday, 26 July.
Located at 9 Connector Park Dr, Kings Meadows, the 15,800 square metre facility, which includes 5,800 square metres of storage, is the largest northern Tasmanian facility.
Chas Kelly, co-founder and executive chairman of SeaRoad, said the new facility represents a significant investment for SeaRoad and demonstrates the company’s commitment to providing exceptional services to clients in the region.
“As an Australian, family-owned business, SeaRoad believes in investing in and working together with the communities we serve. Our new Launceston depot not only enhances our operational capabilities but also creates job opportunities, supporting the region’s economic development,” Kelly said.
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, SeaRoad Co-Founder Terry Morris said the new King Meadows depot, which is positioned just off the Midland Highway, is strategically located to maximise accessibility and connectivity to customers and suppliers amid an increase in demand.
“We are thrilled to officially open our largest northern Tasmanian facility right here in Launceston. This marks a significant milestone for SeaRoad as we continue to strengthen our commitment to seamless shipping and logistics services,” Morris said.
The new Launceston facility is equipped with a high-tech security system, which includes 50 CCTV cameras and an advanced alarm system linked to a local Launceston security patrol supplier.
With the opening of the new depot, Kelly said SeaRoad is now well-positioned to provide enhanced services, improved security, and storage solutions to its valued customers.
“We are always looking at ways to improve SeaRoad’s capabilities and investing in the latest technology to innovate. By relocating Launceston operations to this facility, we aim to provide an even higher level of service excellence, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of goods to businesses and consumers across Tasmania and beyond,” the company’s executive chairman added.
