Legrand has expanded its data centre portfolio with the acquisition of Computer Room Solutions (CRS), a leading provider of data centre infrastructure solutions.
The move reinforces Legrand’s strategic growth in the sector, further solidifying its presence in the Australian and Asia-Pacific markets, Legrand said in a news release.
Legrand, a global specialist in electrical and digital building infrastructure, confirmed that CRS, which has been operating for nearly two decades, will be integrated into its operations.
CRS has built a strong reputation in the design, development, and commissioning of data centre infrastructure, reporting sales close to AU$50 million in the 2024 financial year.
The company provides a range of solutions, including structural ceilings, hot and cold aisle containment, mechanical walls, security caging, and server racks and cabinets.
According to Legrand, the acquisition complements its existing data centre portfolio while also introducing innovative new offerings to its suite of products.
CRS, headquartered in Mascot, Sydney, with manufacturing facilities in Melbourne, has a team of nearly 80 people and a well-established local manufacturing presence.
The company’s design and manufacturing capabilities provide efficiencies for customers not only in Australia and New Zealand but also in Southeast Asia and India.
Legrand highlighted that the data centre sector now accounts for 20 per cent of its pro forma revenue, and the CRS acquisition marks its third investment in the ANZ data centre space, following the purchases of Mechanical Support Systems (MSS) and VASS.
Commenting on the acquisition, Legrand ANZ Managing Director and CEO Palash Nandy stated that the move aligns with the company’s strategic objectives.
“The acquisition of Computer Room Solutions highlights our steadfast commitment to the ANZ market and our development model in terms of targeted acquisitions that align with our core business segments, including data centres,” Nandy said.
“Legrand is looking forward to working with CRS, with the relationship seeing a new suite of solutions being injected into our already robust data centre portfolio for our customers.”
Legrand also emphasised that CRS’s white space solutions and local manufacturing capabilities align well with its existing offerings, reinforcing confidence in the market’s growth potential.
The company noted that the partnership with CRS is expected to enhance the availability of reliable, regionally produced solutions with faster turnaround times for customers in Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
Legrand operates as part of a global network dedicated to improving living, working, and meeting spaces through innovative and sustainable electrical and digital infrastructure.
The company’s Australian headquarters in Prestons, Sydney, oversees the design, manufacturing, and distribution of more than 15,000 products under several premium brands, with a dedicated research and development team catering specifically to the ANZ market.
