Legrand, a global leader in electrical and digital building infrastructure, announced its acquisition of Australian Plastic Profiles (APP), a prominent player in the Australian PVC conduit market.

Australian Plastic Profiles, known for its top-tier PVC conduits used in electrical and plumbing applications, reported sales nearing AU$170 million for the fiscal year 2024.

The company operates under two distinct brands: AussieDuct, which caters to the electrical sector, and Pipe King, which focuses on plumbing. APP excels in PVC extrusion and injection moulding for both small and large-scale projects.

The acquisition includes Australian Plastic Profiles’ headquarters and significant manufacturing facility in Caringbah, Sydney, along with seven warehouses across Australia.

With a workforce of approximately 250 employees, APP maintains a robust national presence and engages with various electrical and plumbing wholesalers, contributing to a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, industrial, healthcare, utilities, and infrastructure projects.

This acquisition marks Legrand’s largest investment in the ANZ region since its purchase of HPM in 2007.

It follows recent acquisitions, including VASS, a leader in Busway power distribution solutions, in June 2024, and Mechanical Support Systems (MSS), New Zealand’s market leader in cable management solutions, in December 2023.

These strategic moves underscore Legrand’s commitment to expanding its domestic operations and enhancing its industry footprint.

Palash Nandy, CEO of Legrand ANZ, stated, “Legrand’s global strategic roadmap emphasizes organic growth through innovation and targeted acquisitions. The addition of Australian Plastic Profiles to our portfolio highlights our confidence in and aspirations for the Australian and New Zealand markets.”

Nandy continued, “We are excited to integrate Australian Plastic Profiles’ product range with our existing brands, leveraging business synergies to deliver enhanced solutions to our customers.”

Meanwhile, John Hills, managing director of Australian Plastic Profiles, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership:

“Partnering with a global  company and market leader such as Legrand allows us to benefit from their international  footprint, robust investment in research and development, and strong industry presence.”

Legrand Australia, part of the global Legrand network, designs, manufactures, and distributes over 15,000 items across six premium brands, representing 40 per cent of Legrand’s local revenue.
