Applications are now being accepted for Manufacturing Skills Australia’s Industry Development Fund, which offers support payments of between $1,000 and $10,000  through research, education, and training.

The funding will assist interested applicants “seeking support for individual skilling and development that is not supported by any other funding opportunity,” according to an announcement on the MSA website.

In particular, the initiative is encouraging and supporting people that work or study in sectors and occupations within manufacturing industries, including metal, engineering, and boating; aerospace; and process manufacturing, such as chemicals, hydrocarbons, mineral products, plastics and rubber.

Other eligible industries include laboratory operations, recreational vehicles, textiles, clothing and footwear, furnishing, competitive systems and practices, environmental monitoring and sustainable operations.

Applicants, whose ages must be between 16 and 65, are required to submit a 60-second video, along with a brief paragraph outlining their background and career objectives.

The most compelling proposals advance to the second (and final) round, Manufacturing Skills Australia revealed.

The Board will determine the amount and size of support payments to be made available in any given year, and support payments are not always made available in all relevant regions.
