Industree Group, an Australian producer of premium Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), has introduced Epicycle, a recycling initiative to address the environmental challenges posed by PPE waste.

Developed in collaboration with TerraCycle, a global leader in recycling innovation, Epicycle aims to transform the management of PPE waste at worksites nationwide, Industree Group said in a news release.

At the core of the Epicycle initiative is a strategic partnership between Industree Group and TerraCycle, offering custom-designed recycling boxes as a solution to the unique waste challenges faced by the manufacturing industry.

Pro surfer Molly Picklum, a brand ambassador for Industree Group, expressed her enthusiasm for Epicycle, highlighting its ability to convert PPE waste into new products and materials, thereby preventing it from ending up in landfills or oceans.

“Partnering with businesses actively working towards a sustainable future resonates deeply with my passion for the environment,” Picklum remarked.

The collaboration between Industree Group and TerraCycle underscores a joint commitment to recycling, sustainability, and responsible waste management, the former said.

Jean Bailliard, TerraCycle ANZ general manager, emphasised the significance of this partnership, noting that PPE has traditionally been considered a challenging waste stream to recycle due to its complex, composite materials.

“We’re proud to join forces with Industree Group to provide a recycling solution for a waste stream which often ends up in landfill,” Bailliard noted.

To date, Epicycle has already implemented various sustainable practices, including solar panel installations, a reduction in stretch wrap usage, energy-saving measures, and an incentive program for hybrid/electric vehicles.

The company’s industry accolades, such as Silver Status EcoVadis certification and SCS Responsible Forestry Certified, underscore its global recognition for sustainability efforts.

Industree Group has held Carbon Zero certification since 2011, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to offsetting its carbon footprint.

Jon Fleming, CEO of Industree Group, highlighted the broader impact of sustainability, underscoring that it is not only beneficial for the environment but also key to building a brighter future.

“Sustainability isn’t just good for the environment – it’s the key to a brighter future. By curbing our environmental impact, we’re paving the way for a planet-friendly tomorrow. Our commitment to sustainability is a genuine investment in a thriving future,” he explained.
