The iMOVE Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) announced a $1 million funding program for Australian entrepreneurs to speed the development of transportation technologies, goods, and services.

In a press release, iMOVE said its Impact Extension Program (IEP) aims to bring to market ideas, products, and services aligned with its existing range of research initiatives.

The fund is open to any company with an ABN and does not require collaboration with an academic institution.

iMOVE CRC described it as an open invitation for Australian firms of all sizes to present their ideas, with the two best transportation industry inventions receiving $500,000 each.

Companies can submit many applications, allowing them to submit all of their greatest R&D concepts rather than depending solely on one for success.

The $1 million direct-to-company funding program intends to expand on iMOVE’s impact through the Australian Government’s Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) program.

According to iMOVE CRC managing director Ian Christensen, the purpose of iMOVE is to promote the development of new solutions that have the potential to significantly transform the national transportation and mobility scene.

“Many ground-breaking ideas and research inside Australian companies are not fully realised due to lack of resources for development and implementation,” he said.

Christensen added, “The iMOVE Impact Extension Program aims to overcome these hurdles, turning ambitious ideas into reality and benefiting society through advancements in transport and mobility.”

To be considered, proposals must align with iMOVE’s research fields and demonstrate a credible path to execution that will have a significant impact on the sector.

Applications close at 5:00 pm on 30 June, with application materials and terms and conditions available at this link

iMOVE is the national centre for collaborative R&D in transport and mobility.
