The iLAuNCH Trailblazer program has issued a call for Expressions of Interest for funding that will support aerospace-related projects underway in areas ranging from satellite materials to spacecraft heaters.
The second-round investment call is set to run until midnight AEST on 20 November 2023.
Over six weeks, the solicitation will look for new project opportunities relevant to iLAuNCH priorities and programs from launching industry-led partnerships with research organisations.
These core commercialisation project areas include additive manufacturing; material processing and advanced materials; hypersonics and flight diagnostics; rocket launch; rocket manufacturing; satellites, communications and sensors; and advanced technologies for aerospace and space applications.
Executive Director Darin Lovett said the iLAuNCH Core Commercialisation project aims to boost the technology readiness level of research initiatives to commercial-ready applications, foster pathways to market, and help enhance Australia’s space and aerospace industries towards profitability.
“The iLAuNCH Trailblazer is a $180 million program to transform Australia’s competitiveness by rapidly commercialising university research through industry partnerships. Our efforts directly enhance Australia’s burgeoning space industry,” Lovett said.
“We have already brought together a powerful consortium of industry and research partners focusing on developing advanced technologies for space and aerospace manufacturing applications, including associated manufacturing supply chains.”
Eligible projects for the iLAuNCH Core Commercialisation program must be undertaken in collaboration with one of three partner universities, namely the University of Southern Queensland, the Australian National University, or the University of South Australia.
The iLAuNCH team is hosting an online information session on 1 November to answer questions and launch their industry research and development.
