Industry Capability Network Victoria (ICN Victoria) has released its most extensive edition of the Victorian Medtech Manufacturing Capability Directory, aiming to strengthen local manufacturers’ ties with health buyers and support large-scale health infrastructure projects in Victoria.

The directory was launched by Hon. Natalie Hutchins, Minister for Jobs and Industry, underscoring the state’s commitment to enhancing local procurement and self-reliance in the healthcare sector.

The latest directory edition features over 100 Victorian manufacturers, from small businesses to major players, offering locally-made medtech products that range from consumables and hospital hardware to advanced laboratory equipment, medical devices, and dental technology.

The expanded scope of this edition reflects ICN Victoria’s focus on building a more self-sufficient and resilient healthcare system through local manufacturing.

Despite Victoria’s global reputation as a leading biomedical hub, many local medtech manufacturers struggle to gain traction in the domestic market.

ICN Victoria’s MedTech Industry Advisor, Dr Craig Neylon, emphasised the importance of the directory in addressing this issue.

“With the opening of more world-class medical facilities, it’s critical now more than ever that Victorian health buyers understand that their content needs can be met by local sources,” said Dr Neylon.

“Our medtech manufacturing capability directory will be transformational for Victorian manufacturers, many of which offer competitively-priced, best-in-class products yet struggle to access local procurement opportunities.”

ICN Victoria works to bridge the gap between supply-side capabilities and the procurement needs of healthcare buyers, promoting greater alignment across the Victorian healthcare system.

By providing a comprehensive resource for local health buyers, the directory will help meet increasing demand with locally sourced products, creating more local jobs and strengthening Australia’s sovereign medical manufacturing capacity.
