Global technology manufacturer GroundProbe, a member of the Orica Group, has opened the doors of its second manufacturing and assembly facility in Tucson, Arizona.
The opening is a significant milestone in GroundProbe’s growth and demonstrates its ongoing commitment to clients throughout the Americas, the company said in a press release.
It comes only five months after the company announced plans to develop the facility at last year’s Slope Stability Symposium in the same city.
The decision to construct numerous production and assembly sites was driven by company growth and customer demand, according to GroundProbe’s Chief Executive Officer, David Noon.
“Rising demand saw us straining to produce the number of systems our customers needed, to the point where we needed to increase our manufacturing capabilities to bolster output,” Noon remarked.
He continued, “Our customers in North and South America make up a significant portion of that demand, so it made absolute business sense to split our capabilities by hemisphere.
With the Tucson location, Noon said the company can quickly supply its clients with its safety-critical solutions, which are essential to their continued operations and productivity.
Meanwhile, Ben Moke, chief commercial officer and VP of Americas at GroundProbe, thinks that the advantages for the company’s clients are numerous.
“The Tucson facility provides reduced lead times and increased supply security, and through local sourcing and reduced freight, better environmental results for our customers,” Moke noted.
He added, “We have exercised a stringent verification process with all new suppliers, supported by our existing robust quality engineering processes, and are gradually ramping locally sourced components as we produce more systems.”
SSR800 is the first radar to be manufactured in Tucson, according to the company.
GroundProbe said this is an important milestone made possible by the continuing support of its customers, suppliers, and employees.
The company has its headquarters in Brisbane, Australia, and has historically produced all of its products there.
