Australian furniture designer and manufacturer Grazia & Co has unveiled a reimagined collection of mid-century furniture and lighting designs by the late Clement Meadmore, one of Australia’s most significant designers.

The launch, held at Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens, brought together leading design professionals to celebrate the return of Meadmore’s timeless pieces, which have been out of production for over six decades.

The collection, developed in collaboration with the Meadmore family and scholars Jeromie Maver and Dean Keep, aims to reintroduce some of Meadmore’s most iconic works while ensuring they remain relevant for contemporary living.

With the addition of innovative materials, the designs are now suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, broadening their appeal to modern collectors and design enthusiasts.

Senior Curator of the Departments of Contemporary Art and Contemporary Design and Architecture at the National Gallery of Victoria, Ewan McEoin, welcomed guests to the event, which featured reflections from Meadmore’s family.

His granddaughter, Jade Meadmore, expressed her excitement about the relaunch, stating, “I’m delighted to see these enduring designs brought back to life, ready to inspire a new generation.”

Meadmore’s son, Quentin, also acknowledged the efforts of Grazia & Co. in preserving his father’s vision, saying, “Grazia’s team has faithfully honored Clem’s vision, adapting it for modern living.”

Meadmore’s work remains highly regarded in Australian design history, with original pieces considered rare and sought after by collectors and public institutions.

The new collection can be viewed from 6pm on 20 March at www.graziaandco.com.au
